This article is about the Volume Batching of Concrete
In this method boxes to are used to measure volume of each material. The internal dimension of the box is 400x350x250 mm=0.035m3=1 bag of cement weighting 50 kg.
When measuring the aggregate shaking, ramming or heaping should not be done.
Sand should be dry when measuring. If sand is damp allowance for bulkage should be made.
50 kg bags can be used when measuring cement. Because size of bag is equals to 0.035m3. And if gauging boxes are allowed to be used for measure cement the particular dimension of the boxes is 400x350x290mm.
Each grade of concrete is consisted specified mixing proportion and approximate water content.
Eg: Grade 30 – 1:1:2 -20 liters of water / Grade 20 – 1:2:4 – 25 liters of water
Each proportion is equal to proportion of cement: sand: aggregate. Volume of each material is measured using above mentioned boxes.
Is this the standard dimension of batch box ?
