How The Features of The Construction Project Lead To Fail The Project

This articles is about how the features of the construction project lead to fail the project.

Before read this article, it is recommended to read the following articles

1. Features of the Construction Project

To become a construction project successful, it should comply with some factors. If, at least single fact cannot be complied, that project cannot be considered as a totally successful project. Those facts can be identified as follows;

·         The project should be completed within the expected budget

·         The project should be completed within the expected time duration

·         The project should contain the features and components as expected

·         The project should complete with minimum number of damages to the other parties

When consider the nature of the construction project as mentioned in first answer, there is a high trend to fail the construction projects.

High resource involvement of the project can cause the project fail due to number of reasons. When the project is huge, it involves lot of resources. Then it is necessary to manage those resources properly. Therefore the close monitoring and supervision of the resources is must. Or else the project would be unsuccessful with lot of losses.

Also the complexity of the construction project can be identified as the complexity of the construction and the complexity of the structure.  When the project is become more complex, it might require new technology and high and quality supervision.  When the construction project is complex, it enhances the risk of completion. Therefore the complexity of the project is a crucial factor which can effect on the success of the project. Here the risk of completion can be identified as the risk of exceeding the construction cost more than expected, risk of exceeding the allocated time duration and risk of fail the structure.

Construction projects are unique. Therefore no similar projects can be found and no any projects will be reproduced. As a result, it is not possible to forecast the cost and all the activities related to a project very accurately. This effect is highly significant when the project become more complex. Especially when consider the civil engineering projects, it is very difficult to forecast the project accurately.

When compared to others, construction projects are consuming lots of money. Therefore there should have a proper management of financial resources throughout the construction project. Otherwise the project will be unsuccessful with loses. Therefore involving lots of money can lead to fail the whole project.

Generally construction projects are running for a long duration. But there are lot of activities should be completed during that process. Therefore there should have a proper management and supervision throughout the construction process. That is a highly responsible task and if the management losses the control over the project, it will cause to fail the whole project.
