If there is a conflict of interest situation, first we have
to identify what is the conflict of interest situation and then we have to asses is how extent this
conflict of interest situation is happened.
Professional bodies like RICS, AIQS
specify how to identify a conflict of interest situation. Assessment
of the conflict of interest situation includes, identifying what is the cause
of COI situation, what will be the consequences of the COI and how to overcome
from this COI.
There are different levels of COI situation, for a example,
contractor gives a gift after certify the payment. ( a lover leve conflict of interest situation ) and if a party ask to
manipulate the data by offering gifts and such ( Considarabley higher level of conflict of interest situation). After assess the level of COI ,
we have to report to our management regarding this and if they intent to go
ahead with this situation, get written approval from them and work. Also, if we
still feel that proceed with this conflict of interest situation will affect
then inform the management and leave the process.
